fake.. sold by amazon!
I've been using Aqua De Gio for more than 10 years (since 2000), and the one I received is definitely a fake. The scent goes away in few minutes (the genuine stays all day).

The surprising part is it's sold by Amazon.com!

I'm unable to return the product due to 1) amazon don't accept returns for perfumes and 2) I live outside US and have a local US shipping address (subscribed to over seas shipping company that dispatches my shipment to where I live) which costs me a lot to return the product.

Sniff, sniff, sigh!
There is a reason why Acqua di Gio is so popular. It smells exactly the way a man should smell. Cool, sophisticated, not heavy or overpowering. There's a tang to it that makes me think of oceans, and a light herbal kick that makes the overall scent come across as clean and lucid, if you can use that word in describing a fragrance. I mean simple, but not one-note, and not a perfume stew.

I don't like musk in men's fragrances and Gio has none. It's not a strong scent, but it is assertive. You don't have to wonder if it's there or not. It's there, it's just not climbing up your nose and making your eyes water. It always makes me go sniff sniff sniff, trying to get just one more lovely breath. Most women will know just what I mean. An enticing barely-there scent that lures you closer and closer, unable to resist the urge to nuzzle under his jawbone right at the pulse spot and dally for a while...

Okay, that's the good part. The bad part is: Every man on the planet seems to be wearing it (which is not all that bad, considering what else they could be wearing...a Calvin Klein drugstore special that smells like a spice cookie dropped in Glade toilet freshener, for instance. Gio's ultra-popularity makes it something of a poor gift if you are hoping to be original. Still, if you want something to give an uncle, dad, colleague or brother, it could work. Either he already wears it and could use some more or he'll appreciate your getting him something other than Old Spice.

If you are trying to show a BBFF or BBFotM that you cared enough to spend a full 20 minutes searching for his birthday gift, Gio is too inside the box. Bulgari's Aqua (or as Bulgari would put it in their pretentious little way: 'AQVA'), is a fine alternative, if not quite as interesting. It hits different notes but has the same feeling: strong but subtle, clean, uncomplicated but enticing. Costs about the same too, and you don't bump into a wall of it every time you get into an elevator in the financial district. Still, it doesn't quite have Gio's catnip allure.

Too girly
I'm surprised and disappointed that this is so popular. I wouldn't think this was a scent for men, except that it says pour homme on the bottle.

If you like sweet fresh aquatics and your girlfriend goes both ways then this might be what you're looking for.
